BK is founder/Chair of Gan Research and Learning Resource Centre. He is also founder/director of Global Action Nepal. He started his career with the US Peace Corps Nepal. BK also established Students Partnership Worldwide UK in Nepal and served as a country director. BK is former Chair of National Campaign for Education Nepal (NCEN) at present serving as an Advisor.

Dr. Shrestha is an Assistant Professor of Physics Tribhuvan University Nepal. Dr. Shrestha has served as a visiting researcher in Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, Guest researcher in Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and Guest researcher in Jadavpur University (JU), Kolkata, India and now She has nominated for 2020-21 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for Nepali Post-Doctoral Researchers and Senior Artists.

Prof. Shrestha is a chairperson of Alliance for Early Childhood Development Nepal (AECDN) and Executive Director of Family Village Nepal ; a non-governmental organization
Prof. Shrestha was an officiating Executive Director of Centre for Education Research and Integrated Development (CERID) , Tribhuwan University. He has undertaken a number of research projects as the Research Coordinator, Lead researcher and worked as a consultant for Asian Development bank , UNICEF/UNESCO, USAID etc. He has dozens of research publication and also he has been author, co- author of many publications.

Prof.Dr. Shrestha has worked in different parts of rural districts in Nepal under the Government of Nepal and Kathmandu Model Hospital. At present, Dr. Shrestha has been working in Patan Hospital. Dr. Shrestha has written dozen of articles relating to the prenatal mortality, burn injuries, Adolescent pregnancy etc.
